Following her graduation with high honors from Auburn University in 1984 with a BS in Nutrition and Foods and a dietetic internship in 1985 with the University of Alabama in Birmingham (UAB), Tammy has been associated with some of the top health and wellness facilities in Alabama (UAB, Sportslife, Total Wellness Center, PRSM) and South Florida (Baptist Hospital of Miami, WellStyles).  She has served as adjunct professor for the dietetics program at Florida International University, and currently teaches sports nutrition at the University of Alabama in Huntsville through the Health and Physical Education Department.  Auburn University College of Human Sciences recently appointed Tammy to the Board of Advisors for the Department of Nutrition and Food Science.

In 1995, Tammy received the Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year award from the Florida Dietetic Association while living and working in the Miami community.  Subsequently, this year (2007) the Alabama Dietetic Association recognized Tammy as the Outstanding Dietitian of the Year for her professional and community involvement since moving back home to Alabama.  She continues to provide nutrition consulting services and enjoys speaking to local, state and national associations as well as media outlets, serving as the State Media Representative for the American Dietetic Association since 2002.
